Flemington Race 6: Banjo Paterson Series Final 2600m

8/07/2016: Looks a race with limited winning chances. Master Of Arts was a last start winner this track over slightly lesser distance and has good strike rates. This Darren Weir trained gelding won his only start on heavy ground and at time of doing this form that ground looks a distinct possibility come Saturday. Huge chance with limited dangers. Araldo Junior has won 5 from 13 and also comes off a last start easy win here in small field over 2500m. Found the lead last time and gave them no chance and looks likely to lead them up gain here. Goes OK on wet ground and should offer huge resistance to Master Of Arts. They hold a clear form edge over the 3rd selection here in Crafty Cruiser here who goes around for the 97th time. Hasn't done much in recent times but handles wet and always a chance over this course. Bold Sniper was disappointing last time out after his Australian debut win at Sandown two runs back. Appeared to have every chance last time and would need to find quite a few lengths on that effort to knock the top 2 out here. Wells is better known as a jumper these days but is till capable on the flat. Loves wet ground and should be around the placing's in a race like this.

Front Runners (3) Araldo Junior.
On Pacers (5) Bold Sniper, (7) Kuakata, (8) Refectory, (11) Trinidadian.
Mid Fielders (2) River's Lane, (4) Crafty Cruiser, (6) Master Of Arts.
Get Back (1) Tremec, (9) Carbon Cut, (10) Wells.
PACE COMMENTS Well, this is a no brainer for the lead as unless something extraordinary happens Araldo Junior will assume that position with almost no opposition. Perhaps one of the on pacers might have a crack for the lead but why would they if there is a natural front runner setting up the race? I am assuming the pace to be fair to middling thus the mid fielders will need to get a wriggle on just before the home turn otherwise the leader could steal the race. As always in these situations I suggest you have a deep think about the mid fielders and back markers and what is an acceptable price.
