Flemington Race 9: The Summer Series Handicap 1800m

29/01/2016: With form lines around Burning Front, Precious Gem, Marli Magic and Sadaqa it's difficult to go past Siegestor as my A selection. My only concern is the month break as I am not sure if there was a niggling injury or if the break was planned. Falago won twice last preparation and after two pipe openers this time in is ready to give this race a serious shake. The engagement of Craig Williams is the sign the stable thinks improvement is on the cards. Azurite's maiden Australian run was an indicator this horse is going to win races shortly especially as the distances of his races increase. An interesting piece of trivia: Damien Oliver rode this horse at Ascot Racecourse in England two starts ago!! Spreadeagled was held up for a run behind Prix D'or at Sandown thus there is nothing between the pair and Pemberley totally missed the start at his last start in a forgivable run. You will note this is all mid week form therefore strengthening the genuine Saturday class efforts of Siegestor, Falago and Azurite.

PACE COMMENTS In races where there is no pronounced leader it is often just a case of moving all horses up one level and this will be the case for this event. Most likely River's Lane will lead however on their day any of my current on pacers could surge forward. This could create a solid pace but then again it might not if my on pacers find their positions fairly quickly. This means I don't really know what the pace will be like hence we just have to assume it will be solid enough to afford all runners with a chance.
